De Europese Commissie heeft een plan gepubliceerd om de ontwikkeling van hogesnelheidstreinen in de EU tegen 2040 te versnellen, waardoor veel treinreizen aanzienlijk sneller en concurrerender worden. Het initiatief ondersteunt de Europese doelstellingen om tegen 2050 koolstofneutraal te zijn en het mondiale concurrentievermogen te versterken.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Het plan bouwt voort op het <\/span>trans-Europees vervoersnetwerk<\/span><\/a> (TEN-T), dat tot doel heeft de reistijden op belangrijke Europese spoorlijnen te halveren. Zo zullen reizigers in 2030 in vier uur van Berlijn naar Kopenhagen kunnen reizen in plaats van zeven uur. In 2035 zullen Sofia en Athene met de trein in zes uur bereikbaar zijn in plaats van 14 uur, terwijl nieuwe grensoverschrijdende verbindingen de Baltische landen met elkaar zullen verbinden en reizigers in staat zullen stellen om via Madrid van Parijs naar Lissabon te reizen.<\/span><\/p>\n

Naast snellere reizen heeft het plan ook tot doel de congestie te verminderen, de capaciteit op conventionele lijnen te vergroten en het regionale en nachtelijke vervoer te stimuleren.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Dit is een belangrijke stap om de verschuiving van luchtvervoer naar spoorvervoer in gang te zetten en alternatieve duurzame vervoerswijzen voor zakenreizigers mogelijk te maken.<\/span><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
