400;\">Flying on a private jet is one of the most climate-intensive ways to travel. Their emissions increased by 46% between 2019 and 2023, and yet most of these flights cover short distances (under 500 km). Reducing the use of private jets thus deserves special attention in curbing corporate executives\u2019 travel footprints.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A number of well-known global companies have a larger share of travel emissions than most, while <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/travelsmartcampaign.org\/top-25-flyers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">owning or chartering private jets<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. They should <strong>shift to more sustainable alternatives<\/strong>: travelling by rail or prioritising a commercial flight with a significantly lower footprint.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In addition, <strong>taxing private<\/strong> jets according to flight distance, as is already done in <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/travelsmartcampaign.org\/policy-developments\/france-introduces-new-private-jet-tax\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">France<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/travelsmartcampaign.org\/policy-developments\/netherlands-to-raise-private-jet-taxes-starting-in-2030\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">the Netherlands<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/travelsmartcampaign.org\/policy-developments\/uk-to-introduce-high-taxes-on-private-jets-from-2027\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">the UK<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, would allow investments in green technologies such as sustainable aviation fuels (particularly e-kerosene) and zero-emission
