UK to close loophole on private jet taxation from 2027

UK Government
November 2025

Private jet passengers travelling to the UK are set to face a fourfold increase in taxes. Starting in 2027, long-haul private jet travellers will pay £1,141 per flight, up from the current £253.

Beginning in April 2027, all private jets weighing more than 5.7 tonnes will be taxed at the highest rate. As a result, charges for trips under 2,000 miles will rise from £32 to £142 per passenger. For flights up to 5,500 miles, the tax will jump from £244 to £1,097, while journeys beyond that distance will see fees increase from £253 to £1,141 per person.
